CINA HOEY received her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Florida Atlantic University.
Cina’s approach is an “East meets West” blend of traditional psychotherapy, positive psychology, mindfulness, and spirituality in order to help others feel “whole” again. She assists her clients to utilize the mind/body connection to overcome trauma, manage stress, thrive physically and emotionally, and create the life they desire. She has worked with clients of all ages, but specializes in adolescents and young adults in their 20’s and 30’s. She is truly passionate about helping clients uncover the inner light, resources, and wisdom that resides within all of us.
Cina has received extensive professional training from senior teachers in mindfulness, attended several silent meditation retreats, and is qualified by the University of California at San Diego to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), an 8-week evidenced-based course that teaches participants how to live mindfully to reduce physical and emotional pain.
Cina was the first School Social Worker to be employed at the Broward County Technical College where she provided counseling to young adult students, connected them and their families with resources, held campus events, facilitated therapy groups, led staff trainings, and taught meditation classes. She also worked as a group facilitator in a substance abuse facility, aiding clients in relapse prevention as well as personal and spiritual growth. In her Private Practice, Cina treated individuals, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, and various personal challenges.
Cina’s passion to work with adolescents and young adults stems from experience in private practice and schools. She began to notice a distinct pattern in this age group, which often stems from an intense fear of personal, academic, or professional failure. Reliance on technology has lessened this group’s capacity to listen to their own inner wisdom, and many are starting to see that Google doesn’t have all the answers. Since she herself is not far from this age group, she feels a deep connection to these clients and hopes to save them years of personal torment by supplying them with powerful tools to achieve their best selves.
Cina loves to learn and continues to attend workshops, trainings, and seminars to increase her capacity to serve. When she is not in session with her clients, she can be found reading a book or spending time in nature.
